Ryanair to Charge for Oxygen on Flights

Budget airline Ryanair has introduced an oxygen levy on all of their flights – giving a whole new definition to the airfare.

The controversial move comes just days after a customer backlash regarding boarding pass download fees.

‘Air isn’t cheap,’ said Dominic Rogers, Ryanair’s Director of Shameless Money Grabbing, ‘the cabin has to be pressurised, that air then has to be recycled, and that all comes at a cost.’

Unsurprisingly, the decision has led to a furious backlash from the pub. Responding to customer concerns, Ryanair clarified that passengers are more than welcome to hold their breath for the duration of the flight, leaving many red in the face.

‘It’s an outrage,’ said Jimmy Jameson on Twitter

‘Although, to be honest, I’m unlikely to boycott. Who else will fly me to Tenerife for £16?’

One caveat is that oxygen can be brought from home. However, tanks will be charged at the standard baggage rates.

As water contains one oxygen atom, it too will be subject to the levy, with customers wishing to purchase at the airport required to pay a corkage fee.
